The word “modern” has been used to describe the radio industry since its beginning.
The term was first used in the 1920s when radio became a mass medium. In those days, there were no AM stations or FM stations and all of the stations broadcast on one frequency band, which is referred to as a channel. Today, we have hundreds of channels available for us to listen to and choose from. You can also find many different types of music on these channels such as rock, country, rap and many others.
However, the term “modern” is not used to describe the radio industry today. The term has been replaced with “digital” because it describes how we listen to our music today. The new digital technology allows us to listen to our favorite songs anywhere and anytime. We can even listen to our favorite music on the go with a portable MP3 player or an iPod.
